What the Earth Institute is Doing for Climate Week 2019

On September 23, the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit will gather in New York City, bringing together government, business, and civil leaders to discuss their plans to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions. This meeting will kick off Climate Week NYC, an annual city-wide series of events and talks to showcase climate success stories and discuss how to do more.

Earth Institute researchers will be participating in a fantastic lineup of Climate Week events, many open to the public. Looking for some climate inspiration? Consider attending the Our Future Festival NYC, which will focus on ways you can take action. Elsewhere, you’ll see talks on how climate services are helping farmers, and how women athletes can use sports to raise awareness about climate change. Or learn about the emerging field of carbon removal, which pulls carbon out of the air. And that’s just to name a few events — check out the full list here.

Here on the State of the Planet blog, we’re dedicating our You Asked section to answering as many of your climate-related questions as we can. We’ve already started rolling some of these out. You can read some of the first ones here and here.

We’ve also got some wonderful longer posts on the way, including a feature on how a tribe of Native Americans is adapting to climate change and rising seas, a Q&A exploring the intersections of climate change and faith, and much more. Stay tuned!

And don’t forget to check out some of our stuff from Climate Weeks past — like this quiz to test you climate knowledge, and our Climate Week challenge.
