Earth Institute Offers Funding for Student Initiatives

by |December 10, 2014

In an effort to better support students in their efforts to raise awareness about sustainability on campus, the Earth Institute is making available funding for the new Student Initiatives Support Program. We are now offering grants of up to $250 each semester to support students who wish to host conferences, panels and other events at Columbia University that relate to the work of the Earth Institute.

To apply for these funds, click here.  Your application will be assessed by a committee of Earth Institute staff based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the proposed event to the Earth Institute’s mission
  • Clarity of the initiative’s objectives and outputs
  • Budget showing all anticipated costs and other funding sources
  • Faculty support (e.g. do you have an academic advisor for content development?)

Deadlines

Spring: The deadline for applications for the spring semester is February 13. Decisions will be sent to students by March 2.

There are a number of other funding opportunities available to students through the Earth Institute. These include the Undergraduate RA Program, the Internship Program and the Travel Grant Program.

If you have any questions about this new program, email Nathan Rudder at nrudder@ei.columbia.edu.
