Meeting the Climate Challenge: The Columbia Climate Center Launch

This blog’s proud parent, the Columbia Climate Center, is having its public launch on Tuesday, March 31—and you’re invited! We are hosting this event to spread the word about our new center and its mission, so it is a great opportunity for readers of Climate Matters to come and learn more about the climate challenge and how we are addressing it. Here are some elements of the event that will be of particular interest to readers of Climate Matters @ Columbia:

  • The event is headlined by Ted Turner, who will participate in a one-on-one discussion on issues of climate with Earth Institute Director Jeffrey D. Sachs.
  • Some of Columbia’s leading climate researchers will speak on their areas of expertise (see the full list of speakers below).
  • Mary-Elena Carr, CCC Associate Director and Climate Matters blogger, will be the evening’s emcee, and CCC Director Peter Schlosser will explain the mission and goals of the Columbia Climate Center.

The event is free and open to the registered public. We hope you can join us! Registration is open starting on Thursday, March 12.
