Are you experiencing the phenomenon of free time over winter break? Now is the time to apply by the next rolling admissions deadline for the Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability’s Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) study abroad program (Feb. 1, 2016). Study ecology and gain experience conducting fieldwork while earning six transferable credits in just five weeks. Our 2016 field sites are:

Brazil | The Atlantic Forest & Serra do Mar State Park – Session 1: May 28–July 2, 2016 or Session 2: July 9–Aug. 13, 2016

The Atlantic Forest is one of the most endangered regions in the world. Work and live in some of the largest remaining tracts of this diverse forest. Tropical flora and fauna abound here, including several endangered primates.

Jordan | Amman, Aqaba, Dana & Ajloun – July 11–Aug. 8, 2016

Embark on the exploration of Jordan’s ecology through coursework and field research. This location is ideal for biodiversity studies, as a wide variety of flora and fauna abound in Jordan’s wetland, marine, freshwater, desert and forest ecosystems.

The SEE-U program provides undergraduate students of all majors from all accredited colleges or universities with a global understanding of ecology and environmental sustainability. Students have the opportunity to conduct fieldwork in unique natural settings in addition to participating in a combination of classroom lectures and lab work.

Weekly schedules include fieldwork, lab experiments, lectures and reading assignments. Daily activities revolve around morning lectures and afternoon fieldwork six days a week. No pre-requisites are required and previous knowledge of topics is not necessary.

Fellowship funding is available to finance expenses. To apply for a fellowship of up to $3,000, simply fill out that portion of the application.
