		<description><![CDATA[Thanks for the update, Ben, and glad to hear that the water extraction tax is being put to good use (fingers crossed). It&#039;s only the rational (and right) thing to do and proves that sometimes regulations and/or taxation are the only ways to get corporations to conform to appropriate, responsible behavior. Of course, the Fijian strongmen running the govt. aren&#039;t themselves paragons of reliability.

The Resnicks and their holding company, Roll Intl., make big money from large freshwater withdrawals not only in Fiji, but also in CA&#039;s Central Valley where they control water rights for major agricultural production. In both cases, the residents surrounding these operations are subject to a supply of inadequate, low-quality drinking water.
