But I agree that the real issue is that those of us in the developed world, and America in particular, need to examine our energy-intensive lifestyle and make significant changes. Grassroots movements and education can be effective in bringing about change at the citizen level, but getting U.S. businesses to go green is a much bigger challenge, and with bigger stakes. Sadly I think little will get done on energy issues until we face a crisis. (See the record on climate change legislation for recent examples.)

Actually, most cities in India have been celebrating earth hour everyday for the last 40 years.
