Some of those factors are civil unrest, climate change and a land mass that is unable to support the population base.

Are we to assume that it is part of “agriculture”? Because if it is, the past history of agricultural simplification and market distortions do not give me any great hope that leaving it to “agriculture” will do anything to diversify diets.
