Run for Water with CWC in Earth Week event

n37154807550_5303Students and non-students alike are invited to join the Columbia Water Center in a run to raise awareness and funds for clean water, at the Dow Live Earth Run For Water on April 18.

At the start of Earth Week 2010, the Dow LIVE EARTH Run for Water is a series of global run/walk events happening within a 24-hour period on Sunday, April 18, 2010 to raise awareness about the shortage of safe drinking water in both developed and undeveloped countries.

Your participation in the New York event will help bring clean water to people around the world. A portion of your $40 entry fee will go to Global Water Challenge, a coalition of leading organizations working together to save lives by providing clean drinking water and sanitation.

The event in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park is one the Featured U.S. Cities of the Global Run for Water and includes a 6K RUN/WALK and a WATER VILLAGE at the finish line for all competitors.

The run will start in Prospect Park at 8:30 am.

Two-time GRAMMY Award-winners The Roots with Special Guest six-time GRAMMY Award-winner John Legend will perform live after the run/walk at 10:00am.

REGISTER for the event on-line, then meet the Columbia Water Center team at 116th St and Broadway at 7:00 am, Sunday, April 18 (early, yes, but for a good cause, and you will be home by noon) to travel as a team to the run.

Let us know you’ll be with us or get more information by emailing watercenter@columbia.edu.
