Great article. Hope to see more from Earth Institute on Haiti, specifically about decentralizing population, a problem which I believe a great many counties face.

This article about Haiti's re-vitalisation after a total devastating earthquake earlier this year is very timely, appropriate and sound in substance. If the actions are taken by a total involvement of people themselves and reflecting their own needs and dreams for their future will certainly provide to the whole world a good example. Calamities are not only natural but also man-made. Thus, such a model will find a long way to spread its beneficial effects especially to those countries devastated by the ongoing global economic crisis and in need of self-organising actions with a collaborative spirit. The sentence in the article above as: "First, special efforts should be made to boost peasant agriculture and rural communities. This will enable hundreds of thousands of displaced people to return to their village communities and live from farming. " should to my mind be the heart of the revitalisation efforts. With this occasion a new birth in the form of organic farming and ecologically living should be given an opportunity to flourish without blurring such efforts by greed and materialistic goals. Now the country has this opportunity. They should not spoil it with outsiders' support with their disguised vested-interests. I hope the Earth Institute will be safe-guarding it not only for Haitians but also for safeguarding the future of the Planet and of its inhabitants.
